1. What types of professions would be celebrated in a modern poetic tribute to Americans?
The types of professions that would be celebrated in modern peotic tribute to Americans are policemen, firemen, teachers, and construction workers because they all helped to built the community, our youth, and they all risk their lives everyday.




2. What words and phrases indicate Whitman’s empathy with heroic people?
"Those of mechanics, each singing his as it should blithe and strong" is a phrase that indicate Whitman's empathy with heroic people.




3. If you could choose a modern American hero to add to Whitman’s poem, “I Hear America Singing,” Who would you choose and why?
It would be a firemen because they dedicate their lives to try and save others.




4. What do you believe is Whitman’s concept of heroism?
Whitman's concept og herorism is that he believes everyone once in their life is a hero to someone else.




5. Throughout “Song of Myself,” Whitman uses the pronoun “I” in order to empathize with people. What effect does this use of the first person have on the reader?
The effect of the use of first person have on the reader is that it makes the reader feel as though they can relate to it.




6. How would Whitman celebrate the cultural diversity found in America today?
Whitman would celebrate the culture diversity found in America today by praising how things have changed and how everyone learned to come together and help each other.




7. What landscapes do you feel Whitman would praise today?
The landscapes that Whitman would praise today are New Orleans and Florida because they are both places where the hurricanes hit and he would praise how they remained to stay strong.



8. What sound devices would be reminiscent of Whitman’s style to describe these landscapes?
We think the sounds of the wind and maybe the sounds of rush hour.



9. Do you think Whitman would sing the praises of technology? Explain.
No, because I think Whitman would rather like nature-like things and doing things yourself.
