Scences Of America

The city workerkeeps the city clean
Without them there would be trash for miles
Even though we talk bad about them
Ourlives would be hectic without the
Even when you see nature don't think that they play apart
but ,they make the nature that we see
more beautiful to me

The beautiful sunshine days of summer,
The incredible starlite nights makes me wonder,
of different time and different places,
And a new life that awakens'
the peaceful person inside me,
All the things that make America Beauty

Poems Of America

What would the world be without so many different colors?
We learn to click like bells and also love each other.
Black, hispanic, caucasians, all around the world to the islanders and asians.
Although we may be different, together we are playdough all mash together, we become one body and one soul.
Let's surround America as we watch out playdough grow!

Nature is the light of beauty.
The birds are chirpping,
Children are playing anxiously on the swings.
The leaves race down the sidewalk,
As they get crunched under the rolls of the roller skates.

In America we are free, free to be who we want to be, free to laugh, and free to and dance all night, free to war and fight, and in this land this one so free, I am free to just be me, free from restrictions on religion free from the parrial, free from the killing, free to stand up for our rights, free to sleep all through the night,
yes in this land yes of the free your free to be you and Im free to be me.
This is America.

People come all over to look for the American dream.
To become something, to live the great American dream.
To become everything they were destines to be.
They enjoy the riches of this great nation.
Sure there are tears that are shed
But we join together hand in hands
Soon laughter and smiles are back on our faces.
Soon everybody will enjoys the riches of this great nation!

Mother Nature in America

Before there was a you and me
There was the sun, the moon, and the beautiful blue ocean sea
Before there was a you and me
It was just the plain ground to see
You could not see the seeds in the ground a sprout up like mounds into a stem
Is this the beginning of a you and me
As the wind blows and the spring comes and goes
The rain is here and then fall appears
What has happened to God’s tears
Is winter starting to appear
The days has flown bye and my beautiful blossoming flowers was gone
So before life there is death
And this is a start to a new nation

For nine months you are held in your mothers stomach
You have yet to see the world, nobody knows if you’re a boy or girl
When you’re born you’re held , nursed, and taught new things
Like how to walk, talk, and follow your dreams
A mothers job is never done even if she dies
For the words she left behind with her children, will always be alive

Its bueaty its smell its sound so soothing
oh how i love nature
the grass so green on the other side
the nice breeze that passes by
oh how i love nature
What can be so beautiful than this
birds sing....squirrels junping
day by day i think, how this be a beautiful sight to see
but so vivid to me
the landscapes up high
scultures leaning towards the sky
nature just seem so alive, as a person walking on two feet
oh how i love nature

In America
Workers work together to benefit each other
In America
Doctors work together to save people’s life
In America
People reach out their had to help others in need
In America
We the people form the united states of America

America The Beautiful Eric, Zaahidah,Katelynn, and Nelson

Similar to a mother who makes sure her child eat their vegetables,
Or a father who passes on all of the knowledge he can to his child
Similar to a bird who teaches their new born how to sore in the sky
Or a lion who teaches its cub how to hunt its prey in disguise
Similar to how a soldier is trained before let into battle
Or how an officer gets promoted for doing a good job and is given a medal
Is all the same as teachers who makes sure their students
Grow up to be healthy like a mother, knowledgable as a father,
Prepared to live on their own as a bird, and ready to survive in the world as a lion
Ready for the battle of reality, and when is all said and done, graduates the child
and awards them a diploma then sends them off into society. So be thankful
of teachers as they come and go, but the lessons they teach will never leave
you so
- Eric

The sound of the splashing
The guiding water falling onto the group of rocks
coming as one. The white and gry clusters blending for change
The tides marching in the waves. The flowers growing up
getting ready for adulthood. Nature is the start and
end to all beauty
-Zaahidah

They stand tall in the eyes of the world
The marines protect our rights and
They fight for the rights of others
In times of war they die for us
And in times of war they kill for us
In times of peace they help people
They help after disasters bot natural and artificial
They help those in need, the poor,
The hungry,and the homeless.
After their services is done
They return to being what they always were
Everyday heroes with no attention
- Katelynn

From the green grass to the blue skies
Every part of America is beautiful
From the top of the Rocky mountains,
Every part of America is beautiful
Walking on the black beaches and lava rocks in Hawaii,
Every part of America is beautiful
Walking hearing the sounds of birds
Chirping and squirrels talking.
Every part of America is beautiful
-Nelson

The Great Aspects Of America (DON,TIFFANY,ASHLEY)

Chirp, Chirp the sound of birds chirping as kids run around and play
Fresh air, benches people go here to relax and clear their mind
kids push, pull, and fight with each other from noon til dark
Kids run and play on the swings and slides
The only place where people can go and be free

Birds chirping and bees buzzing
Mocking Birds singing tunes of lovely wake ups
Day after day
Morning to morning
365 days
A Mocking Bird is a lovely alarm clock
And a great aspect of America

Bees buzzing, flowers blooming
Natures sign that a new day is coming
Winters farewell, and Springs hello
Natures inner beauty continues to show
Arousing smell of natures creation
Sends Bees buzzing for the sweet sensation
Flowers blooming, Bees buzzing awayNature breathes life unto a new day.

America, America! By: Brandon, Seiyla, Nyle, Tias

Do You Remeber when the planes crashed into the towers?
Do you remeer how the nation shared their emotional showers?
It seems you remember the dark and not the bright..
What I remember is when the nation came to unite.
I remember how firefighters searched for people buried under the debris.
It was all for a good cause, just look at what our nation came to be.
Money being donated from schools and communites,
Clothes being donated from different families.
America has changed fpr the better, yes indeded,
Because now America gives back to the people in need.

They taught us the basic things in life,
You know math, science, reading, and how to write.
Each and every one of them are seemed to be different,
They start off mean, but they end up being nice…Teachers,
We go to school to see their faces, to listen ..
Annoyed by the work and exhausted from the effort.
They put us through a lot, but They let us know ,
we have a choice,
To succeed or not to succeed,
So what do you wanna do?
Their goal is our future, and our cooperation is their need,
Without them, where would we be?

When the security of our land is threatened,
We call on our soldier's might,
To go wherever they're needed,
To defend us day and night.
They leave their love ones behind,
A great price our soldiers must pay.
Let us salute their courage and bravery,
May we remember them each time we pray.

Day in and Day out saving
The lives n which we live,
SAving the homes in which we live in.
Saving the kids in which we give
When in danger, they come to
save the day.
Making sure when they leave,
everything is aye ok.
Riding around their big fire truck,
going to the fire that just has been struck.
Firemen is what they're called

Why America is Beautiful: Jeromy, Nafis, Tara, Kearra

Why America is Beautiful

You might wonder why America is Beautiful,
Is it because the tall wooden trees,
Or the swarming of black and yellow bees,
It just might be because of all the love in the air,
Or the fresh springtime air blowing threw our hair.
You might wonder why America is Beautiful,
Is it because of all the giggles and laughs,
Or the wide spread of green glistening grass,
It just might be the rivers that flow so far,
Or maybe it could be the mountains that reach to the stars.
It could be you or maybe me,
It could be anything,you see?
So next time you look at America, look at it careful,
You just might miss why America is Beautiful.

Cops are heroes, firefighters too
Saving lives is an excellent thing that doctors do
They help us in every way each and every day
making sure that we are safe, everything is ok
Day in and day out working hard non stop
firefighters, doctors, and cops saving lives is what they all about
The smell of burning houses, the sounds of loud sirens, cops rushing to save us followed by doctors and firefighters

Carpenters are strong and wise
They build buildings that reach the skies
They sculpt and shape every design
that appeals every Americans eyes
They build through snow and through rain
To make America beautiful even if it brings pain

I look up and see the heavens,
the read mountains of Arizona,
the blue mountains of Montana,
the green trees of the Virginian woods,
they are all beautiful,
they are all where I want to be,
to see the sun rise and to see it set,
it is where I live and I am from.

American Peoms

America the Light Comes Together
Separation represents darkness.Intregration represents the light.
If there is no light than darkness stays forever. We need to come together.
We as Americans did that, 9/11 Katrina trough us together to those in need.
We are Americans. We are one. Americans are spectacular and amazing spiteful and loving is what we are about, Separation represents darkness Integration represents the light. We come together in the time of need we are the light of the future.

American Pride
The land of the free, America, It’s in me a Firefighter a police officer.
Am a hero in this land of possibilities. I raise my head high with pride as I walk these American streets. Freedom is all around me. My liberty bell rings with the joist song I sing. Every breath in me gives praise to the land of the green. Because America be true to me I be true to thee.

The Eye of the of the Tiger
The jungle is our nature; the jungle is our life,
The jungle is our destiny, the jungle is our light.
We are the eye of the tiger. We long for a purpose in life,
We long for the beauty of nature, we long for the help of growing,
To be stronger and more mature. We are the eye of the tiger.
It’s time to show the world, it’s time to show our colors, it’s
Time to show how life can be easier, by bonding together and working with each other.
We are the eye of the tiger.
Undefined Beauty
If beauty had a face, it wouldn’t have a race.
WE all have skin, aren’t we all kin?
Scarred black, white, tan
Aren’t we all your fellow man?
Is all we are, we represents these strips and stars.

Give Thanks To Professions That Help

Single mothers stand and unite. We are the women of tomorrow.
We have a duty to accomplish and with no one there to help.
We are the proud American parents of young, intelligent children.
We will show the world that we don’t need anyone to pity us.
Show the world that through the struggles, we will find a way to make it work. Single Mothers, hold your head high and don’t cry because everything will be alright. How can our children be strong if their providers are not strong? Let the laughter of the children be fuel for your soul. Let their happiness flow through the air of nature and plant new seeds of strength for the next single mother to pick.

The sign of nature is a precious thing. But one wonders, where can it be found? Is it in the forests or in the fields? Is it in the streams or lakes? They wonder where it is with all their might. They look for it in every nook and cranny they can find. But for some reason, they always forget that it can be found in the easiest place of all. All they need to do is look out their windows and there they can find the nature they've been looking for. Whether in the city or in the country, nature is all around us no matter where you look. It's in all the professions that you see. It's in those of the chemists and doctors, The ones who matter the most.

In life, we learn to love and hate things that help us grow, but these people only take their time to tell us what they know.
With lives at stake and people’s health in their hands, doctors keep hope alive and fulfill high demands
Doctors are people blessed with a gift of generosity, with a strive for excellence, they work for the well-being of humanity
Doctors assure us things will always be alright, they guide the light to assurance as well as the light to a healthier life.

To those that give us joy an hope, thank you. The help you give keeps us strong for the rough times ahead. The strength and pride you fill us with gives us pride and hope. Thank you America for what you gave to us. Thank you for your mothers, doctors and for your sustaining nature. Thank you America.

America poem : Alicia, claudia, Christopher, and Ray

- She's tall and beautiful, as she wears her armor from head to toe with her arm extended to the world to carry their torches

- Her name rings bells most famously in 1776. She's ancient but very important. Although her hearts been broken she sits here in Philadelphia declaring her independence. Everyone knows her well. She is the Liberty Bell.

- She wears the color of red, white, and blue. She waves to liberty and justice from way up high. Her 50 stars twinkle and shine. As they hold our nation strong and bright.

- She offers freedom from coast to coast. She gives you liberty and acts as your host. She welcomes all into her embrace. She is America, a land of beauty and grace.

What make America what it is today: Rayvon Hill, Olivia Kamara, Kefion Green, Kayla Cain, Kim Perry

Our backbone, the wisest of the human race
They keep us feeling comfortable and safe
whenever you feel down, they can bring you joy
they care for all the girls and boys
Uniting and coming together to become one
So much experience, they know how to progress our lives
They can help the world become a better place
No war, no guns, just peace

Going into the battlefield with their heads above their shoulders
Marching two by two, knowing that if they skip a beat the war would be over
Fighting for their country so that we can stand proud and tall
Making the enemy know that we are no joke at all
Sleepless nights, and endless days , praying that they would be heroes one day
Wake up it’s time for the kill, let show these suckers who will win
“Ready aim fire” the first shot is heard
Blood is everywhere, my comrades has been killed
Should I go home and lay in deadly sins?
Who would protect my family if I become a whip?
No honor for leaving the war early, I can’t go home and sit
To hollow in self pity, I know this won’t help one bit
Who would protect this great nation that my ancestors took so long to build
I will stay and fight so that the United States of America can stay United
I want to remember this day, as the day we fought for victory
Because in the end we need to know that we are fighting for freedom, liberty, and justice
Support the troops not only because they fight for you, but support them because it could have been you.

America is the home of the brave
The home of the settle
Where you can be yourself and not be judged
America stands by it self as one

America the beautiful shines so brightly
Land of the free, Home of the brave I say proudly
Even after all the obstacles our country has faced
We still remain united as one through all the triumph and pain

America , a beautiful and amazing place
Embodies views that capture the imagination
from its rolling mountains and national monuments
America ascertains what most strive for, an assortment of advantageous works of arts
America , oh America how I envy you so!

Lisa, Shannelle, Lewis, Taifa, Joshia

Unity

The sight of burning buildings crashing down
People astonished, crying asking for guidance
Helping one another to overcome this great tragedy
Crowds stand united
From that day this country is no longer divided

Raging waters, people floating, mothers lost
Houses crushed, cars disappeared in the dirty water
Races united, tragedy created racial triumph
Floods tore down walls and knocked down racial barriers

Walking together side by side
Making a difference in saving lives
Becoming united as one
So someone can continue seeing the morning's sun

Mothers full of pain and empty hearts
Walking the streets with hopes of being heard
With tears in thier eyes but still ignored
They remain standing tall
They contiue in thier walk
They are united
Fighting so that others won't experience the same heartache

The beauty of this landscape which encaptures my mind fills me with a thought of unknown potential
A strive for success and a faith in oneself that sets itself apart from the visual
The painted picture in ones mind is what brought the necessity of unity
For it appeared that dreams and goals would only be accomplished with this one thing
This now demonstrates the true beauty of unity

Celebrating America By: Strala, Taurean, Dorian, Charniece

What keeps the wheels on America Spinning?
Is it the firefighters that risk their lives every day?
Is it the doctors who save our lives?
Is it chef who nourish our bodies with delicious delicacies?
Is it the teachers that educate our minds?
Or is it us, who keep the Nation spinning so strong?

America the beautiful
Made beautiful by its people
Every race and every language
Stitched into the fabric of this land
A cornucopia of cultures
A collage of colors
Every person like a unique snowflake
In this blizzard called America

America, America, the place to be
From its vast plains
To the bustling cities
America's way, is the way of rights
Even in the day, or during the night
I love America
From its sand, to its cement
I will always love America

Children hold everything America needs to flourish
Their little eyes hold the future of this nation
Their minds hold the idea of a better tomorrow
Their footprints will lead us away from a dark history
Their hands hold the light of a brighter America

A “Classic” Beauty

True beauty lies within the eye of the beholder
We, the American citizens are the beholders
And the pure beauty of this timeless land is beyond one's sight
But is eternally placed in one's heart.
She sings sounds of tradition, happy holidays
That brings family together
America has blossomed into an amazing flower with sweet smelling nectar
And astonishing petals that continue to grow endlessly
She gives us the foundation, background, and stability from which
We, the American citizens grow and learn from

Sacrificing, hard work, strength
These are the qualities of the men and women that America produced
True, smart, and understanding
For a world that is so demanding, these men and women give their all
Building a community
Sculpting a nation
Of a fine world
America, God's wonderful creation
Birthed people who care
Shows their love
And if asked what would they choose
Between people and the world
They would say..........

America.
The land of freedom, liberty, justice, equality, and opportunity
America presented We, the American citizens
With these ideas, the ideas on which the foundation
Of our way of life has been built
Things in America have changed
But her original idea still remains the same
Within the traces of her......

Structures.
There are great structures such as the Statue of Liberty
She stands tall, all by herself on her lonely island
Her solid, sandy build colored base is the sandy struggle
To get America on solid ground
Her classic rusted robe is the representation
Of how America has changed, grown, and
Has aged beautifully into the Superpower Nation today
Her large crown that sets upon her graceful head
Her torch in her right hand leading America
Her left hand holds the tablet of all the........

Different Americans.
Ambitious, Ambiguous, Americans
Incredible, Intelligent, Interesting Americans
Different.
Curious, Cultured, Creative Americans
Amazing! All under the shade of human.
America's Children

She once sang sad songs
But now she has proven to weather all storms
And shouts her new found freedom
From her mountain tops
Holding herself high, and shining with pride
We, the American citizens, celebrate her
America, her birth, her steps into womanhood,
Loving her old, while embracing her new
We celebrate our new America
For she is forever a classic beauty.
Abdun, Chariya, Alexis, Danelle

Do you care? Do you?
Actor, Actress exhilerate by luxury
abused by the finer things in life
Do you care? Do you?
NBA legend praised by many
respaected by all, admired for uneducated talent
Do you care? Do you?
Football player known for prescense on the gridiron
But can you? Can you please relieve this pain
Do you care? Do you?
Our grounds are tearing literaly
Our neighborhoods are crying nervously
Now tell me
Do you care? Do you?

Heroes care
They're quick brave, aggressive...
They never wait, never stop...
They're protective and sometimes even obssessive...
They'll risk their lives to find you...
walking through flames... knowing what fire can do to flesh
yet they never stop...until your safe

What makes a hero?
How is one person a big part of one society?
How can one person be named this glorious title?
You may think that it's easy...
But think again...
Think about the constuction workers, firemen, and police officers...
that put their lives on the line...
Think about mothers, aunts, uncles, and grandparents ...
That will do amost anything for their offspring...
So when you think about what it takes to be a hero...
think long and hard because heroes are everywhere
all you need to do is look around your neighborhood...

Homework
By the beginning of class tomorrow, the blogger from your group needs to have posted your group's poem in the order in which it will be read during the presentation. The slide show creator needs to compile the images that your group will be showing in a PowerPoint presentation. It would be best to save that presentation to a flash drive and email it to yourself for backup. Presentations begin tomorrow. I believe that we will get through them all tomorrow, so be ready to go the moment you get into class.

The American Dream

People of America
How patriotic we are
We stand tall and wave
Our flags.
People of America
How proud we are.
We command attention
And the praise we adore.
Oh American people
How much we have achieve
And even succeed.
Lawyers and doctors
High in their leagues.
Oh American people
Oh how we love America
Its people, its places
And even its surrounding seas.

You are the apple of my eye
You are the reason why I’m still alive.
When I become ill, I look to you to survive.
You listen to my heart beat
Ba Boom, Ba Boom, Ba Boom
When I feel sick or light-hearted,
You rush me to the emergency room.
Tick, tock, Tick, Tock
The time flies when I am hooked to an I.V.
I have all the time in the world to think
About how good you’ve been to me
You are a hero
You are a doctor
How incredible that must be.

Hardworking
Determined
Strong
Black women
Young
Independent
Living by day
Surviving by night
Working 2 jobs
Baby father fights
Trying to make a living
With the world full of killings
Boom Boom Boom someone just got shot
911 somebody call the cops.
It’s time to stop playing
We need to start praying
The end is near
We need to prepare
Black women keep the faith
There is some hope
America isn’t but so bad
It’s the things people do that makes it so sad.

With this World today
Gardens, sunsets, plains, and forests
We see these landscapes day by day
Take a tour or take a picture.
Beautiful buildings. Beautiful sculptures
Is what you can capture in the blink of an eye
Lets not forget our entrepreneurs and architects
Better yet without them,
America would be a place to forget.

American Poem - Dominique, Melinda, Ebony, & Luis

I can walk these streets and say as I please
but you can't
you can barely go somewhere without being asked to leave
I can voice my opinion to my superior and walk out alive
and when I commit a crime, I have a right to a trial
but you, your name will be next on the homicide files

You saved my life from that fire
Your courage is what I desire
If you never would have rescued me
on this earth I would not be
I was in the room when you turned the knob
I am very grateful you did your job

Together we are one
Apart we are none
That is what we are trying to overcome
Blacks and whites come together
So we can achieve something better
Racial equality is here today
So what we need to do is come together and make it stay

With its amazing strength there is nothing America can not overcome
In times of need
people are willing to stop that "American greed"
People risk their lives
In order to make sure that others survive
Through bad events or bad weather
the people of America only pull together
This is what makes America so strong
and it will stay that way for years to come

Web Quest Answers

Walt Whitman Webquest Worksheet

1. What types of professions would be celebrated in a modern poetic tribute to Americans? The working class people of America who work diligently everyday and are good at what they do. Just not the employed people either. People like mothers and daughter who stay at home and take care of the house.

2. What words and phrases indicate Whitman’s empathy with heroic people? Words and phrases that Whitman uses are like, "Each singing a song what belongs to him or her and none else," and the last phrase of the poem, "Singing with open mouths their strong melodious songs." This shows the happiness of the people and the strong voices they carry. Also how their songs make them unique.

3. If you could choose a modern American hero to add to Whitman’s poem, "I Hear America Singing," Who would you choose and why? I would chose the fireman or police because with what’s going today with violence and wide ranges of fires they are real heroic.

4. What do you believe is Whitman’s concept of heroism? Some one that works hard everyday and are happy and content with what they do.

5. Throughout "Song of Myself," Whitman uses the pronoun "I" in order to empathize with people. What effect does this use of the first person have on the reader? He shows that he is nothing but a person too. That he knows just about as much as any person who loves and appreciates life just as much as the next person.

6. How would Whitman celebrate the cultural diversity found in America today? He would probably show that how people being exposed to diversity of others can help make people grow. That the more we appreciate others differences the less problems we will have.

7. What landscapes do you feel Whitman would praise today? Any working area with people who are diverse and are working hard. OR maybe a place where there is hardly human contact and is perfectly preserve.

8. What sound devices would be reminiscent of Whitman’s style to describe these landscapes? He uses both consance and assonance. He also uses alliteration.

9. Do you think Whitman would sing the praises of technology? Explain. The technology of that times yes because it is what help give working class people work. But the way that some cars and factories are ruining the planet no. I feel as if Whitman appreciate the planet as much as the people on it and we should all respect its worth and wonder.
