1. What types of professions would be celebrated in a modern poetic tribute to Americans?
Doctors, teachers, lawyers, firemen, and police officers are the types of professions amongst many that would be celebrated in a modern poetic tribute to Americans

2. What words and phrases indicate Whitman’s empathy with heroic people?
Walt Whitman indicates his empathy with heroic people through various words and phrases in the poem "I Hear America Singing" such as when he is describing the carols of mechanics to which Whitman describes it as being "blithe and strong" as it should be, and when he refers to the other professions, who at night sing with " open mouths, their strong melodious songs" like the carpenter, the mason, the boatman, the shoemaker, the ploughboy, the mother, the young wife, and the girl sewing.

3. If you could choose a modern American hero to add to Whitman’s poem, “I Hear America Singing,” Who would you choose and why?
If i could choose a modern American hero to add to Whitman's poem "I Hear America Singing", it would be a doctor because they strive the hardest out of all professions to make a difference in the lives of other people . They show this by working aimlessly to save their lives.

4. What do you believe is Whitman’s concept of heroism?
I think Whitman"s concept of heroism is to admire those who are often neglected and left out when people refer to heros; when their contributions to society are just as important as any other person working in another profession is.

5. Throughout “Song of Myself,” Whitman uses the pronoun “I” in order to empathize with people. What effect does this use of the first person have on the reader?
By Walt Whitman using "I" in his poem "Song Of Myself", people are able to connect with him more because he has been through the same things that they have and in doing so, his readers would be able to connect with him on more of a personal level.

6. How would Whitman celebrate the cultural diversity found in America today?
Whitman would celebrate the cultural diversity found today by emphasizing his empathy and admiration for the things that help make America so diverse such as the different people and cultures that are present here today.

7. What landscapes do you feel Whitman would praise today?
Mountains, the Ocean, Lakes, Parks, and even the Desert are a few landscapes that I would feel Whitman would praise today.

8. What sound devices would be reminiscent of Whitman’s style to describe these landscapes?
The sound devices that would be reminiscent of Whitman's style would be the calm sounds of different landscapes

9. Do you think Whitman would sing the praises of technology? Explain.
I believe he wouldn't because throughout his poems, he praises the satisfaction of manual labor
